• Solution: Strain improvement, USP and DSP development alongside bioengineering
Strain improvement was carried out via rational and classical approaches, alongside fermentation optimisation and DSP development. Titres (which were initially <0.01mg/L) reached the target required by the partner (>1g/L). Bioengineering on the strain was carried out to allow production of a range of related products, by feeding different small synthetic precursors. These were fermented, isolated and supplied for further activity and property testing.
