Microbial strain collection
Isomerase has acquired and generated a large microbial strain collection containing >20,000 strains of eukaryotic and prokaryotic origin. We manage this proprietary strain collection via a carefully curated relational database. Additionally, the database links the strains to experimental data, its genomic sequence and specific compounds it produces. Our Strain Collection originated from a variety of sources, including Biotica Technology Ltd., Cambridge University, Bath University, and a variety of biotechnology companies such as ZuvaSyntha Ltd.
Isomerase Microbial Strain Collection includes:
- the biotransformation collection with >1500 strains,
- the novel actinomycete collection of >7000 strains,
- the extremophile collection (>2500 strains),
- and additional strains from publicly available patent collections and other strain collections
These strains include bacterial, yeast and fungal hosts, which can be used in a wide range of bioproduction applications such as pharma, biotech, agritech, food, consumer goods and functional materials.
Isomerase microbial strain collection complies with the Nagoya protocol and is available for use on partner projects under suitable terms.
Genome sequence library
Isomerase expertise in isolating genomic DNA from a wide range of microorganisms streamlined the generation of our genome sequence library.
What's more, Isomerase bioinformatics team counts with software, pipelines, and know-how for the bioinformatic analysis of genome sequences. The availability of proprietary genomic data and bioinformatics expertise enable us to mine the genomic database to discover novel R&D targets. This is a crucial resource for identifying:
- enzymes for biotransformation and biocatalysis,
- metabolic pathways for production of a large variety of products,
- biosynthetic gene clusters for heterologous expression and targeted manipulation
- enzyme domains for use in targeted non-ribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) and polyketide synthase (PKS) engineering
- homologous clusters
- potential analogues of products of interest.
Additionally, our bioinformatics team has specifically created the software EvoSelect® for enzyme activity optimization. This machine learning enzyme engineering technology is trained using our genomic library alongside with publicly available genomic data. Using the evolutionary information deep-rooted in sequence alignments, the algorithm can generate novel aminoacid sequences with optimized biocatalytic properties .
Moreover, Isomerase strain collection includes > 7000 novel actinomycete strains, which are well known as powerhouses of biosynthesis and catabolism. To exploit their properties further, we sequenced the genome of a significant portion of these strains, providing an invaluable resource for the identification of novel enzymes, metabolic pathways and biosynthetic clusters.Contact us to know more about Isomerase's microbial strain solutions.
